840 000

The artwork 840,000 from the Halving Blocks series builds upon the foundations of the previous works in the series. Taking the form of a hexagon representing the concept of a block rendered in two-dimensional space, this artwork is an emanation of three-dimensionality.

The concept behind this series is rooted in the common origin of every block – from the Genesis block, in which Satoshi inscribed the now-famous lines “The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”, to the next block yet to be mined. The unbroken sequence of blocks effectively transforms validations that are currently different – and indeed do not yet exist – but will occur in the future, into an indivisible whole. The genius behind all this is that, rather than the addition of the weight of blocks across the entire chain making the system more unstable, it actually makes it more resilient and resistant to change.

Despite their shared external form, which evokes the concept of a ‘block’, each panel in the series is unique in its essence – a direct reference to the fact that none of the blocks contains exactly identical transactions within them.

Three of the corners feature a Merkle tree, with information regarding block 840,000 shown above each of them. The bottom left corner represents the Merkle root of the block, the top central the Hash of the block, and the bottom right the number of the block, the newly mined 3.125 Bitcoins, the date on which the block was mined, the creation date of the artwork, and the name of the arstist.
In the center, the letter "B" is symbolically represented as a 9 step pyramid without a vertex, a reference to one of the most important features of Bitcoin as a technology. Due to its decentralized nature, the technology has no leader who decides from the top. The pyramid is enclosed by a vortex structured of hexagons, as a reference to the fractality of the surrounding world including the invisible one. The circle symbolizing infinity, filled with a vortex of hexagons, is closed by a hexagon itself, whose structure resembles that of the flower of life. Sinking down towards the centre of the composition suggests to us the depth and complexity of the technology.
The flower of life has many spiritual meanings including oneness, unity, connection, and unanimity. These are the messages that Bitcoin has brought to the world. Bitcoin is not just a technology, it is an idea that has breathed spiritual growth into humanity through the understanding that there is something very broken about the fiat system we were born into. Bitcoin is an idea, it is not an expression of how many dollars you have on the blockchain. Bitcoin is oneness, we are constantly connected to each other through our nodes, and we are
always unanimous.
